Birth of A Digitised Nation
London's South Bank Centre bore witness to the coming of a "supernatural" man on June 10th, 2018. So supernatural in fact, that Xander Zhou envisaged a wardrobe catered to a male extraterrestrial so kind as to carry children on behalf of women; born themselves perhaps with an 'XZ' chromosome, if you will.
Zhou's SS19 collection featured a street savvy spellbinding melange of misty blues, fuscia, moss green and scarlet on high performance cotton drill, washed denim terry towelling and pleated polyester. Fabrications that spoke to the needs of today. Yet still, Xander's oversized shapes and pregnant stance on futurism spoke of a time in human evolution so individualistic that the clothes, although familiar sought authenticity in their utilitarianism with funnel-neck fatigue racer and multi-pocketed fatigue jackets as well as distorted gingham checks , arcane gridded patterns labelled with circuitry symbols for effect.
Accented with fervent collaborations with curvilinear sunglasses from Gentle Monster and 'Reaction Element 87' sneakers by Nike sportswear, the collection was a stand out in it's ethereal slickness and iridescent colouring.
