A closer look at Theory Autumn/Winter 2017

Words: Omar Nasir

Commemorating its 20th anniversary, American brand Theory delivers a decidedly modern Autumn/Winter 2017 collection. Birthed at the Fast Retailing Innovation Center in New York City’s Meatpacking District, the collection solidifies the brand’s reputation as a leader in classic, well tailored men’s clothing. Soft melton long coats in shades of charcoal, deep radish, and mantis are the centrepiece. Paired with wide leg straight trousers or a black utility pant, the pieces easily translate from day work wear to an after work rendezvous. Cashmere turtlenecks and navy knits offer the variation that every modern gent looks for in his wardrobe. Statement pieces — pinstripe flannel and brae compact moleskin — are distinctive while semi-tech blazers, double faced zip-coats, and fatigue pants lend themselves to the fresh-faced schoolboy aesthetic. The emphasis is on refined yet functional pieces that celebrate the urban gentleman’s fast-paced lifestyle.
