Alexander McQueen Pre-SS17
For the Alexander McQueen Pre-Spring/Summer 2017 collection, head of menswear design, Harley Hughes continues to travel back in time to the 50’s and 60’s. This time, the aesthetic of the collection references 1950’s college style — preppy, exuberant, with McQueen’s signature highly tailored finish. Fitted varsity jackets and blazers bearing the McQueen ‘AMQ’ emblem with skull and butterfly embroidery are a focal point of the collection. Paired with club stripe ties, the look is decidedly traditional with a playful hint of irreverence. Harley injects 60’s musical icon status through the use of souvernir badges adorning blazers, knitwear, oversize bags, as well as footwear. Washed Japanese indigo, antique foulard, and paisley jacquard are interweaved through the versatile collection. In true McQueen style, the pieces reflect meticulously English tailoring — a deliberate nod to Savile Row. Accented with bold white lace up sneakers, the collection exudes modern, relevant style.
