Matthew Miller SS17
“I never saw beauty as being something that was a physical object. I fundamentally see beauty as being a moment in time, a fleeting feeling, a scar, a memory, an experience, a sense of freedom.”
Matthew Miler is a master at weaving relevant cultural themes into an intoxicating visual show. Centered around skinhead culture, the designer referenced "A Study of Clouds 1871" by John Constable, re-working the motif into bleached denim for a subtle yet romantic effect. Etheral undertones also appeared in loose fitting shirts, deconstructed kimonos, and oversized cardigans. Miller presented silk bombers pyjama trousers and linens in classic hues of cream and black. Miller re- imagined Trojan skinhead checkerboard patterns throughout into a more refined aesthetic. Butterfly pins fastened to shirts and jackets echoed a sense of fragility in Miller's convincing vision.
